You're taking the thesis to be absolute rather than relative, as though I were picking sides between realists and idealists. On the contrary, I say these situations are "two-sided," meaning that we're dealing here with different perspectives (realism and idealism), both of which likely have their place. So idealists would be useless (compared to realists), relative to the task of reckoning with nature's monstrous (indifferent, amoral, physical) aspect.
