You're saying that because some fiction is negative, therefore it doesn't make sense to hold out the prospect of collective existential growth, the kind that can offset the myopia of consumerism? That seems like a non sequitur.

Spelling out that possibility is different from laying out a ground-plan to make it real. I'm writing philosophy here, not self-help therapy.
