You're minimizing the problem by calling it "my" conception of conservatism, as though there were anything idiosyncratic about criticizing the writings of a parade of established, leading conservative voices, which is what I've done in this series. Since when do I alone have the burden to show that those authors are generally regarded as important to conservatism? Again, who says your pragmatic conservativism is essential rather than idiosyncratic?
There are evidently facets of conservatism, including libertarianism, populism, neoconservatism, and theocratic traditionalism. I tackle them all in this series, including pragmatic conservatism. Trump and Putin are leaders in some of those versions of conservatism (populism and traditionalism). And they're all explainable by my deflationary hypothesis.
