You're making my point for me. I'm arguing against Buddhists who maintain both that a Buddha cannot suffer at all, and that a Buddha is compassionate. I'm saying that those two assumptions contradict each other. If a Buddha is compassionate, he'll suffer in the way you said, which is to say he'll use empathy to feel other people's pain.
