Your first paragraph there clarifies your view for me. Sometimes you sound more metaphysical or cosmological, but here you’re making a cultural critique.
Of course, I was just using a depressed girl as an example, since I was trying to get at the practical consequences of the distinctions you make, such as between form and energy, lines and cycles, and going backwards and forwards in time (I’m still not entirely clear on that last one). It was just that the article I wrote was about something practical, namely wisdom and the meaning crisis, so I had that in mind.
