You think I let Chauvin off the hook? I end by saying, "To be sure, Chauvin deserves to be imprisoned for his egregious role in the killing." Chauvin engaged in police brutality, but when I watched the video I saw two other causes that were given short shrift in the media: the role of George Floyd's hysterical resistance, and the crowd's zealous role as tragic chorus.

I simply emphasized the other two causes to counterbalance the media's exclusive emphasis on the pattern of police brutality. As I say in the article, "Our task, then, should be to pick up on all the causes that leap off the screen when we view the bodycam footage, especially on those that have been underemphasized or ignored by the mass media."

And my point is that Floyd's death was overdetermined. That's the full horror of it. It's not as tidy as the woke agenda would have it.
