You see, I agree with Rand's secularism and humanism, but I disagree with her libertarian inferences. Look at how Chinese collectivists take humanism in a different direction. (I wrote about this recently in the article linked below.) Of course Chinese collectivism seems to go wrong when it becomes a police state. But the point is that humanism is consistent with the collectivist's emphasis on cooperation. Precisely because there's no God to help us and we're on our own, we should work together instead of boasting about how any one individual can carry the whole world on his or her shoulders. Humanism doesn't entail such arrogance.
