Yes, and the reader is obliged to ask whether an author like Chesterton or Lewis is just posing as a humble dispenser of commonsense and intuitive wisdom, or whether that rhetorical pose is covering up sophistry, fallacies, and nonsense. It's the same with William Lane Craig, who also likes to appeal to commonsense and intuition. Indeed, this is the strategy of populist demagogues in politics, and you find it in corporate advertising too.
