Yeah, but he could still be dangerous. To take the paradigmatic example, Hitler was a goofball demagogue too. Trump was likewise a goofball and he became president. Boris Johnson was pretty goofy looking. And lots of woefully unqualified trolls run for office in the Republican Party.
What looks silly and misguided from a lofty, intellectual standpoint can still be plenty dangerous because demagogues can seize power by appealing to and by whipping up the mob. That's why I bother to criticize his garbage messages. (And I do it for the laughs too.)
Not that my articles will have any impact, of course. Calling Hitler names before he seized power would have been perfectly ineffective. What matters is the opportunity that a demagogue can exploit, when there's mass resentment that has nowhere else to go.
