While there is such a thing that's called "political science," I think the pundits and news junkies who talk a lot about politics are in it more for the tribal benefits. They're not so interested in science or intellectualism, but in waging culture war or in feeling cynical and above the fray as a savvy centrist insider.

Trump was the lifeblood of the failing news networks, so they'd hardly ban him. CNN is praying that Trump will run again and win. Their ratings tanked after he left the White House. That's what makes demagogues like Trump so dangerous: they exploit the systems' weaknesses, such as the fact that the mainstream news media have been reduced to supplying infotainment since the rise of TV and the internet.
