Whether this imperial strategy is foolish in the long run is a different question from whether it's operational across the board such as in the upper echelons of capitalism. We should be clear whether we're describing or prescribing something.

This article is more descriptive than prescriptive. I'm positing an unconscious drive in humanism, so that we push technology to the limits to confront our true nature. I'm not commenting so much here on the wisdom or the counter-productiveness of that drive. Things may exist even if we wish they weren't so.
