What's the difference between illusion and an emergent reality? Atoms, for example, aren't wet, but when some come together to form the H2O molecule, wetness emerges as a higher-order quality. What's the difference, then, between saying the higher-order qualities are "illusory" or "subjective," and saying that the lowest order of reality (Brahman) creates Maya by stirring itself to form more complex orders over time? Isn't this just a semantic distinction or one of arbitrary emphasis? Is it like saying a cup that isn't full is half empty or half full?
