What's false about the distinction between natural and artificial selection? Either the environment mindlessly sorts organisms and species or a person, for example, can make a monumental choice that impacts history. Don't you think Constantine's decision was one such choice that explains why Christianity is still around? It wasn't God's doing, but a Roman emperor's.

No idea what you're talking about with respect to "the godless Russian ideal." Russia's quite traditional and Christian, by the way (only 13% atheist and 41% Russian Orthodox), which is much less secular than Europe.

I'm currently writing and posting a series of articles against the social Darwinism that's implicit in political conservatism. Early next week I'll be posting an article contra Putin's cynical might-makes-right approach.
