The Dawn of Everything points out, though, how individualism is stronger in certain nomadic tribes since those members are all their own leader in those egalitarian terms. Enlightenment individualism was ironically inherited from the European engagement with Native Americans.

Cynically, we might suspect that BS are just deferring to big tech hype, the point being that we should submit specifically to the companies that give us the internet so we can revel in being part of some online network.
