What is the self that the enlightened spiritualist, who affirms her self-preservation instinct, tries to preserve? It would have to be the underlying, Source self, not the person of Jane Smith. Thus, she should be in favour of helping everyone equally as expressions of that only self that's real. She'd have no basis for making an exception of her personal, physical self, unless she were still attached to the instinct that helps define her as a separate, illusory identity.
