What I argue here is that we shouldn't cheaply personify things. In thinking of plants as patient, how could we know we wouldn't be fooling ourselves? How would that attribution be responsibly falsified?

I think patience requires a mind, and plants are mindless--but so is nature, yet nature is divinely creative. So you don't need a mind to be marvelous. Personifications can amount to trivializations.
