What conquering ancient Jews are you talking about? Those biblical stories are myths that whitewash Canaanite polytheism. Some Jews may have wanted to conquer in Yahweh's name, but they typically lost to various empires.
The Jewish scriptures weren't fully formed before the diaspora. They were reworked over a long period, and it's likely that Persian religion rubbed off on the captive Jews who rewrote their scriptures and tried to impose monotheism on their homeland.
Modern Israel is, of course, a whole different story, but even Jews now who are backed by the American superpower are hardly conquerors. They defend their tiny nation against hordes of jealous Muslims who want all Jews dead. Yes, Jews took land that was already occupied, after WWII, but Jews viewed that as Zionist reparation for the Nazi holocaust, and as a defensive measure during the Arab-Israeli War.
Where do I say Christian history is gentle? I've written dozens of articles criticizing Christianity, including its brutal history.
