Well-tracked, regarding the ouroboros of conservatism. You should be writing about that, and about the cluelessness or chicanery of either side.
Democrats seemed to have just been going along for the ride, signing off on conservative myths and initiatives, managing the bureaucracy, and making excuses for the side effects of capitalism. I think this has to do with the irrelevance of feminine values to politics (see the second link below).
There are certainly some weird economic re-alignments going on. My view is that "modern conservatism" is an oxymoron, so it's bound to be supported by a series of frauds. Conservatism reduces to social Darwinian sentiments in favour of natural dominance hierarchies in human societies, as in plutocracies, monarchies, or dictatorships.
