Well, there's a pejorative sense of "political," for reasons given in the article below. Politicians use deception to establish compromises that fall short of ideals. You can defend the compromises by saying with centrists that perfection is the enemy of the good. But realism can be used as an excuse to avoid progressing beyond the status quo. It's the old debate between realists and idealists.
