Well, the article is speculative, which makes it philosophical. I'm just suggesting a way of thinking about minds and cultures. They're tools of the brain, of the inner self which is naturally hidden. Systems of control can be tools too. Think of bureaucracies, legal frameworks, creeds, and so on. The mental self could be just a system that was developed over hundreds of thousands of years in the Stone Age before it exploded onto the scene with expressions of behavioural modernity.

I know you're fixated on the need to switch more to solar power. But I like to think about lots of topics, and to put the pieces together.
