Well, that's like looking at a cup as half full rather than empty. You could say the same about any period of social decline, that it paved the way for some improvement, if only by teaching us what not to do.

Metamodernism seems like a series of diplomatic, centrist, wishy-washy restatements of what the modernists and postmodernists were saying. But I haven't looked that far into it yet.
