Well said, and that's a fine list of grievances. I suspect, though, that the conditions of work for most people before capitalism were no picnic either. Did the early modern farmer work harder than the medieval peasant? I'd expect theocracies to impose some moral constraints on employers, from which capitalism was liberated. But I doubt there was much consistency in those moral restrictions.
