Well, psychology is also about knowing ourselves, but philosophy puts everything together, our objective and subjective pictures to help us decide what to do about it all. Psychologists defer to social conventions for their prescriptions regarding mental health and disorder. Philosophers, by contrast, question everything.

And I have indeed argued against psychology on similar, somewhat Foucaultian grounds for being Orwellian or draconian. I mean, homosexuality and female nature were once regarded as disorders. And religious delusions get a pass because they're popular. It's the same with the dark triad of personality traits which is somehow subclinical because it fuels the upper echelons of capitalism. I've also argued against the propagandistic aspects of economics.

Sciences, too, can be politicized.
