Well, many Christians wouldn't be in the front row, cheering on the Roman soldiers, but I was thinking of the mainstream, liberal "Christians" who've now made peace with consumerism. These folks wouldn't want to get their hands dirty, of course, but they'd have approved of Rome's business of disposing of radical troublemakers who threaten the social conventions. It's a question of whether Christians are counter-culturalists (like Jesus) or defenders of mainstream compromises.
