Well, it's Western religions (especially Christianity and Islam) that focus more on belief than on practice. Western atheists follow suit since those two religions are the greatest dangers to the West, compared to other religions (via fundamentalists, the Evangelical capture of the Republican Party, and Islamist terrorism).
