Well, it's not so easy to go from evolutionary function to morality. Just because we do associate certain experiences with what we consider to be the values of good or bad, doesn't automatically make those associations morally valid or profound. Evolution likely designed us to be racist and sexist, and otherwise prejudiced in caring for friends and family but not strangers. Does that mean we ought to be conservative or tribal in those respects? Should we let nature, natural selection, or our prehistoric ancestors dictate to us how we ought to live? Taoists might say so, but it's not self-evident.
