Well, it's far more likely that no divine power has anything to do with it. The appeal to the supernatural isn't a legitimate explanation of anything because it's cheaply unfalsifiable. Was it God's will for Lincoln and Kennedy to be assassinated, and for Trump to be spared? What kind of God would that be and how would he differ from a devil?
