Well, I'm open to that idea too. I've been reading through The Shape of Ancient Thought, which is an amazing book. I'm not sure if India has a dying and rising god tradition, though. Mythicists compare Jesus to Krishna, but I suspect that much of that is dubious.

In any case, I'm not saying Egypt is the only foreign source of Christianity. The passion narrative might have been overdetermined in terms of its lack of originality.
