Well, I criticize Western societies too, and have argued that we labour under plenty of religious and secular delusions.
It seems clear to me, though, that the North Korean and Russian delusions I referred to are comparable to the Western consumerist and progressive ones I've criticized elsewhere. The fact that North Korea cares for its citizens (in a police state) doesn't change the fact that its propaganda is preposterous and is thus comparable to the shibbolethian nature of many Western social conventions. We submit to those conventions not because they're reasonable but to prove our loyalty (as in Orwell's 1984 story). Likewise, Putin's invasion of Ukraine wasn't based on reason or on justice but on the greed and delusions of someone who's been corrupted by power.
