Well, I agree with much of this. I've recently written at length on our societal frauds (theocracy, capitalism, and civilization). I also explain how our existential function seems to be anti-natural. We turn the natural wilderness into a humanized (virtual, as you put it) environment that facilitates our attempt to live like gods.
But nature will likely have the last laugh and terminate at some point our experiment in progressive history. We're anti-natural beings that have nevertheless been evolved by nature and that nature will eventually extinguish.
