Well, democracy in the US might have been non-psychopathic under the New Deal, but the trend for the last 50 years has been privatization, so the bureaucrats in government matter less than the psychopathic executives in big corporations who control the regulators with lobbyists, campaign contributions, and so on. We still have our psychopathic masters in liberal societies.
In fact, the anthropocentric aspect of secular humanism is arguably psychopathic at a species level. Instead of being individually selfish, we're collectively selfish, so we're psychopathic towards all other species.
But what we're also trying to figure out is how to elevate us even as we systematically replace our bodies and minds with machines and computers.
