We just have to be clear on how we're defining "nothing." It's best thought of as a borderline concept, and it's indirectly about the limits of all our concepts.

Lawrence Krauss's scientific discussion of the matter is often deemed misleading since he presupposes that quantum mechanics would apply to "nothingness." By "nothing" he means empty space--but "space" in a technical, scientific sense that includes virtual particles.
