Trump is hardly a pacifist. But he did speak against embroiling the US military in a war, and he ended up not doing so. It's hard to give him credit for anything because of his mental disorders (he's not a fully functioning person), but I think Peterson's point there is at least arguable rather than pure BS.
He got lucky with Iran perhaps, although it seems Iran tried to assassinate Bolton in response. These kinds of assassinations and covert ops likely happen in the background all the time, though. Much of it is automated, and the president goes with the flow of the military-industrial complex. It takes some stamina or stubborness to resist that industry's thirst for war.
