Transsexuality could be a symbol of transhumanism since it's the shattering of dichotomies that are at the core of human identity. You see this in transhuman sci-fi all the time: technology will give us the power to re-imagine ourselves, to change our identity at will so that we become alien to our traditional selves, and thus branch off into a new species. It's almost as though the alt-right bigotry were a classic Jungian reaction to this shadow side of our progressive potential.
