Those sound like academic influences, at best. I'm talking about obvious, recent influences on the two parties. It's been well-established that the Democrats switched from backing blue-collar workers in the 1990s to being a party of professionals, when they went neoliberal under Clinton, while the Republicans absorbed Evangelical Christianity under Reagan.
