This is interesting, but calling qualia an illusion isn't really a reductive way of explaining qualia, since "illusion" presupposes a taking of one thing for something else, and that way in which X can seem like Y is just the qualia. So this is more like a swapping of labels than an explanation.

Consciousness may be a neural construct, and we can understand the construct's evolutionary advantage, but the hard problem is how an object could have a subjective viewpoint, or how the mental construct could be "seen" or mistaken for reality without a homunculus
