I’ve written numerous articles that touch on morality and meta-ethics, although many are on my blog (where I wrote before I started writing on Medium).
Some years ago I was in a dialogue with the eliminative materialist and fantasy author, R. Scott Bakker, and those discussions probably come closest to this topic of whether there can be knowledge of right and wrong. He argued that our commonsense talk of values and meanings is based on brain-based illusions. I’ve also written on the naturalistic fallacy which shuts the door on certain secular theories of morality.
My aim is to explore whether we can reconstruct morality in aesthetic and pantheistic terms. I’ll be writing much more on that, but it’s a big topic.
