These are the questions I was wrestling with. There might indeed always be a clash between what works socially and the more profound truths of existential experience. I don't know if that clash can ever be overcome. Here I was positing a social mechanism of corruption that casts doubt on the honour of religions. Transhumanism seems less delusional than theistic religions, but it could just as easily be exploited for political and economic purposes, which would distort its ideals.
