There's something of an impasse between mysticism and philosophy, in those terms. Which is foundational, or which is more indispensable than the other? The mystic can say the skeptic can't understand unless his perspective shifts so he's no longer stuck with the illusions. And the philosopher can say the mystic is confused in his interpretation of how the world seems to him.
It's interesting how Hinduism skirts that question by being so inclusive. The Hindu says you can take different paths to the divine, including philosophical reflection, the worship of deities, or even secular life (through business, romance, and family).
