There are exceptions to every single generalization or concept ever entertained. Nevertheless, patterns persist, and I don't go in for arbitrary centrism, as if the truth were always between extremes. For centuries, Western Christian theology distinguished itself in that Platonic respect, via Paul and Augustine. Judaism is less dualistic or Gnostic, but that's beside the point since Judaism influenced modernity mainly through Christianity.
