There are certainly legitimate criticisms of philosophy. Many philosophers would benefit immensely from more grounding in science. But Tyson piles on and goes too far, as I show in my article on his book The Starry Messenger. He talks about the need for a "cosmic perspective," but he gives all the credit for it to science and none to philosophy. His blind spot there is apparent.
