There are at least two Christianities at issue in this article, the one Backyard Church defends (liberal or progressive Christianity) and the one it rejects (the right-wing, hypocritical kind). The difference is essentially just the Democratic-Republican split, and thus it falls in line with the tribal separation of the urban, over-educated elites, and the rural, undereducated blue-collar types. The latter are clearly inclined to prefer truthiness to objective truth.
