The truth can be dangerous, so that's irrelevant. I dismiss racism as stupid, and I point out numerous times in this series that environment would be only one influence on politics.

There's tribalism everywhere for the reason I state: we evolved to live in tribes. I'm looking here at overall political trends. For all the variety there may be in Europe, Europe has obviously accommodated itself better to liberalism than have the populations that live in the Torrid Zone, most of which are still autocratic.

Just because cooler temperatures are better than hotter ones for human cognition, doesn't mean cold weather isn't dangerous. Obviously, we can die in the cold from hypothermia, and so on. That's neither here nor there, as far as my hypothesis is concerned.
