The problem here--which Christian conservatives make much of--is relativism. If all religions are valid relative to their traditions and histories, the religions seem less majestic. They lose their mystique. This is a problem with the liberal attitude of tolerance which Sentell doesn't address in the article. Rather than justifying Christianity he ends up justifying respect for all religious traditions, based on liberal platitudes.

Plus, you'd have to leave out all the exclusivist parts of Christianity. The history of that religion is largely conservative and imperialistic. Jesus was the only way to the one true God, so all other religions were demonic and had to submit. It's the same with Islam.

The liberal cosmopolitan attitude seems more mature, but it has its downside which Sentell ignored.
