The priest acknowledged that. He wasn't arguing explicitly that atheists can't be moral. He said they can be good, but his approach was to insinuate that new atheists aren't all living up to the ideal for atheists: maybe some are selfish consumers, or at least they're going after easy targets (fundamentalists) rather than the Catholic Church's saintly scholars.
