And it's a question of knowing your audience. What do most readers of Medium want to read? Do they want to read panderers and flatterers or uncompromising critics of our lifestyles?

I've written also that, regardless of the articles' quality, negative articles probably get less claps because negativity doesn't put the reader in the mood to applaud.
