The idea of profound truth hiding in plain sight is an intriguing one. Trumpism was certainly a fraud perpetrated out in the open. The more open Trump was about his crimes, the more his cultists loved him because that proved he was a radical who was opposed to the political establishment. That establishment had been secured by more secretive frauds and double standards.
