The bathos lies in the fact that the Bible ends with a false prophecy about the timing of the world's end. That's not to say theocracy isn't dangerous in non-aesthetic, practical terms. I'm just pointing out that in literary terms, the revered Bible is silly and naturally incoherent. Ruled by a lamb or a lamb-like king in the afterlife? I think not since it's a mixed metaphor.
I don't follow Nietzsche's social Darwinism, so that's a strawman. I agree that we should protect the rights of the powerless. But instead of waiting for Godot to do so in the vacuous theistic manner, we should build and sustain progressive societies that enforce secular humanistic principles here and now.
