The absurd is everywhere, and we'd recognize it by developing an existential perspective, one that's detached from the lifeworld. The less we take our humanizing intuitions for granted when pondering nature, the more we run up against the inhuman. The cost is that we become alienated, like the members of most countercultures who dissent from mainstream naivety and vanities. We run up against the absurd when we clash with the world, when we don't get what we want and we realize there's no good reason why, as in one that would reassure us. The absurd is also in deep time and cosmic space, and in bad luck, irony, and bathos.
