That's well said, and it might inspire me to write an article that explains why I dip into this meta-topic (writing on Medium). Writing this kind of article may indeed be counterproductive, although at least one of them did well for me (the one on Zulie Rane).
There may indeed be an emotional basis to it. Why would I let pass such an absurdity that's rubbed in my face every time I visit Medium? The least I can do is tell the truth as I see it about what's going on here. It's not just sour grapes. I feel obliged to lodge my opnion on this subject, for the record. I don't fixate on it, although I doubt the algorithm approves of any such criticism of Medium.
Then again, the algorithm no longer seems to approve much of any of my subjects. I think the numbers are down for all the writers, because of the tinkering with the algorithm.
